Juror – James Marshall
Artist, Art Educator
James Marshall has been a highly successful exhibiting artist and art educator whose education in art began with a pottery apprenticeship in Guatemala while living with the Quiche, a Mayan First Nation tribe during his service in the Peace Corps. He received his MFA in 1979 from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor where his MFA research and production in sculpture were mentored by John Stevenson and Rudolph Arnheim, author of “Art and Visual Perception”.
His teaching experience includes the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, the Rochester Institute of Technology, Rochester, NY., Bloomsburg University, Bloomsburg, PA., University of Wyoming, Laramie, WY., and has been Program Head of Ceramics at Santa Fe Community College from 1999 to present.
James continues to develop his artistic direction with “The Liminal Object”, an in depth sculptural exploration fueled by the minimalist aesthetic, which investigates the potential for an ordinary object to move into other dimensions. His works from this series are included in over 200 public and private collections nationally and internationally and he has been widely published in books, magazines and newspaper articles.
Theme
There will be no theme for this exhibition. We are looking for your best work, aiming for an impressive showing. The only requirement is that encaustic/wax (including cold wax) be one of the ingredients of your work, and we prefer your work to be a representation of your current expressive style.
Juror James Marshall will make his selections based on the quality of submitted artwork, so be sure that your jpegs are good representations of your work.
