FRANCISCO BENITEZ is an artist born and raised in New Mexico, but who has developed a career both in the US and Europe. Although he worked for many years painting in historical techniques in oil, he discovered the Fayum portraits and has enthusiastically embraced encaustic as his main medium in recent years. As he is a specialist in ancient Greek techniques of the medium, he has given workshops nationally and internationally, at Artisan, R&F Paints, and the National Encaustic Conference in Beverly, Massachusetts, and Sicily. Francisco is currently represented by NuArt Gallery, Santa Fe, New Mexico.
